New photos. from the Malhuer
« on: November 05, 2008, 08:53:18 PM »
Things change really fast out on the refuge this time of year. The drop tine buck had a nice little bunch of girl friends but during the night, he lost his does to the new guy in town. The first picture is of the new guy after he kicked the drop tine bucks butt. The drop tine buck was limping really bad yesterday but he wasn't limping quite so bad today. This new buck seems to have broken one of his back tines while still in in velvet and it hardened off that way. You can see it hanging down. So for now he is the boss of this group of does but with the recent snow in the mountains and more buck bait moving down into the refuge, it won't be long until the really big bucks follow.

Here's a few more pics. I thought I would share with you.  The Malhuer Wildlife Refuge is in the southeast corner of Oregon.  Thanks for all the kind words.
