Don,

I'm like Craigs brother Larry, I've got the english side covered but my very first dog was an Irish setter in 1976 .Here's one of my pups. Proof that style can be seen early,18 months and 10 weeks there is a video of this dog on Quicksilver Kennels facebook page as well.

Ernie; Bummer about the finger. My schedule has been so messed up I haven't even bought a hunting license this year.

Do you know anything about the breeding behind the Red R. J. is training? I guess I'll have to join the 18th century and finally sign up for Facebook. It seems you can't see anything there unless you have an account.

I bet you're referring to Mississippi Zev. He's quite important in the resurrection of the hunting instincts in the Red Setter.

Don: Great to see the pics of Stormy. Glad to hear he's settling right in.

Yup Missisippi Zev,well actually the NRSFTC claims a son of him but I have an old american field around here in a box that had a big write up on the revival of the red setter. It had a few more english names that they used. Col Ed Schnettler was mentioned in that and that's where a couple of Gregs dogs came from.Funny that Freckles is an Irish, what with all that white on her,and her bodystyle.I've seen her pedigree and it's linebred like crazy to Clancy O'ryan. She looks exactly like him.

1946 National Champion Mississippi Zev! Now you know the rest of the story.

Hey Craig. Went to the Central Ore Wirehair Club Christmas party last night. spent the night at Holly's. Wasn't sure she was gonna let me have stormy back. her boy friend even played with him. Step in the right direction! When she got him to get a dog, he showed up with a mangy lookin cattle dog! Now he's considering a pudelpointer?

That's great Don, if he doesn't come around with the right dogs and attitude toward them she should find a new guy. Reminds me of a joke that ends with "send pictures of the boat".

Tell me this little pup isn't going to challenge me every step of the way. Hope he's great when we're done.

Red is settled in nice, him and Connor are pretty much inseperatable at this point. He sleeps thru the night and loves to feed the chickens and do the chores with us. As soon as our camera get fixed I will post some pics of him and the boy.

You are more then welcome, nothing like a boy and his dog! We enjoyed you guys also but it was cold.

I heard you and Don talking about this site and thought I'd give it a try. There sure is a lot of interesting and valuable information here.

Looking forward to pictures when the camera is fixed.

We head to Randal Saturday to deliver the last two. Both go to families with two boys each. We raised two boys and that brings back memories.

Take care.

Craig O.
