Yep, the 6.5 outdoes the 6.8. The 6/6.8 is and amazing round tho! Would be awesome on coyotes, killer on deer..the one i ran through its paces was phenomanally accurate with a Black Hole barrel. The Blackout is a completely different purposed round. It mimics the 7.62x39. Only lags about 50 yards behind the m855 in trajectory with a supersonic 125 at 2300 fps, makes it a 300-400 yard round in a good gun! Run it subsonic with a LeHigh lathe turned bullet with a payload round loaded subsonic, and you have a devestating 200 yard big game load that is, shall we say, "whisper" quiet!

Got the .308 (Sig 716) covered. I just like to shoot different chamberings on the lighter AR15.

Please share your thoughts about the 716.

I have a PTR 91 (308, 18" brl) that will shoot ~2 moa, but I'm wishing for sub moa accuracy. How bad do I need a 716?

For a production 16" carbine it acceptable. I very rarely shoot factory ammo, it's a solid MOA carbine with some factory match ammo (BlackHills 168). It's shot some 5 shot 3/4" groups with 165 BT handloads. The Hornady .308 Superformance ammo flat slung the bolt carrier group like the Apollo Moon shot on the first round fired. I had to set the gas system on the piston all the way open. I haven't shot it a whole lot.

I have a 6.8 SPC. It's a good shooter. Can go to "almost" 500 yards shooting paper. It's only good for ~ 200 on deer tho...300BLK won't do that very well

It's a great companion setup when you have a bolt gun in 270 winchester  ;)

it's basicly a "short" 270...6.8×43mm vs. 6.8x64mm...only need a supply of large rifle primers, and .277 bullets...will need some slightly faster powder for the 6.8 SPC tho.

from a standpoint of required "reloading supplies" the 300BLK would need an additional supply of 30 cal bullets, and smal rifle primers, and powder...even then, all you have is a 30-30 that is best run subsonic for suppressed use...I thought long and hard about the 300, and well, with the advent of the FNW Aero rifle in 45 ACP, the 300BLK does not make sence (at least it does not make sence for "me" as I am currently standardizing rifle calibers and reloading supplies...I have a Glock 21, and the Aero makes perfect sence)

But if you had a 30-06, 308, 300 Win Mag, then a 300 BLK would make sence...well kinda.

Regarding oddball AR chamberings, I have one...243WSSM...it's one finicky machine...

I also agree...a AR upper without a dedicated lower is basicly a very expensive Baseball Bat!!

It is a disease.  I shot my first deer with my 6.8 last month.  Now I'm looking for the next best thing.  I am having fun!

Look at the Noreen in lapua, or even a Nemo Omen in 300 win! Both very fun, accurate guns to shoot! :)

I called Noreen about the BN-36 in 270. They currently only offer it with a 1/10 twist. I also asked if it could handle some warm loads. They seemed a little uneasy about a 165 grain bullet with a 59.5 grain charge of Retumbo.
