It could be something she was eating.   I shot one deer in Montana a few years ago and could smell it from 10' away.

Im thinkin a late estrus. The does can stink just like the bucks. Estrogen doesnt smell like a rose.  :chuckle:

Yep just slice up a sample of meat a fry it up.  You will know when you taste the cooked meat and what to do!  Let us know what you find out.

I shot a whitetail out by Republic years ago, we called him "stinky" because of the smell.
when I got it home I washed/soaked it in bathtub until all the smell was gone, dried all the water off, it tasted great !!

The rut effects does too.  Advertising for attention.  Would normally not be a meat problem but precook a fatty piece before processing, they have been known to clear the kitchen and maybe the whole house.
