Late Archery Blacktail buck Harvest
« on: December 03, 2013, 08:37:39 AM »
My first Blacktail buck, I used a 1960s Whiffen Comet recurve 53#@28 58". St Charles custom arrows tipped with 1964 bear razorhead.  I have been after a buck for so long. I couldnt be happier.
This was a few days ago and very honored to have my kids help with recovery.. Be safe and Happy Holidays.

Was he a 2-point? Kind of looks like it.

Sky, yep  2x2. After taking the shot, (never been that close before) I gave him 3.5 hrs before returning with my nephew and 10yr old son. Thats when things turned for the worse,,

Congrats on a hard-earned and noteworthy accomplishment!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Congrats on breaking the ice on a buck!  Must feel good to finally achieve that goal!  Way to go.  I have a bunch old Bear Razorheads and in their day, they were THE broadhead of choice.  Any razor sharp head on a well-placed arrow will do the trick!

With all the good fortune going that day. A unreal close as heck shot which im to embarassed to say. I did go by a mega ticket (didnt win), but the money would run out before the memories ever will. This buck came right on top of me. In fact he nearly kicked my upper limb upon a hasty retreat.

In the last pic I posted. I had just released my arrow. I though for sure we was gonna run me over. U can barly see my upper limb near his rump. Which he darn near knocked out of my hands.
