Pigs in Cali

Purchased my tickets to head to Cali (near Santa Rosa) to hunt pigs on private property! Pretty stoked. For this trip as you can imagine.

Anyway, if you were me, would you take a muzzleloader, a rifle (choice of lever action .357, .308, of 7mm) or would you take a bow. I'm an bow Hunter primarily but the trip is only 2.5days and I've never hunted these critters before. Advice greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

might take a look at a diagram of the vitals.  They seem to have small heart/lungs that are further forward than lots of other critters.  For the bow or handguns, a quartering away behind the shoulder shot is usually good.  For rifles, behind the ear works.
They like water sources.

It depends on the type of hunting you will be doing....spot and stalk or with dogs.  If hunting with dogs, anything will work.  Otherwise, many of your shot opportunities may be at distances greater than 200 yards and your only limitations will be your ability/desire to take longer shots.

With all of that being said, you should take your bow if that's your real desire.  My experience has been that hogs are not too difficult to stalk up on, but can take a beating before going down for good.

Sorry to post this same thing twice guys... It seemed like was not loading and I ended up posting twice as a result.

Anyway, I think I'll take the bow and my muzzy or .357... Any input on bullet selection?

Hogs are tuff. You want a solid bullet that will penetrate well and open well. They swell and often times do not bleed much after they are shot. I would take something with a little range. If they have been hunting them on the ranches they will be smart and hard to get close to.
