Pick up a Washington gazetter and go for it. There are bears all over this state.

My advice is don't camp in the middle of a basin that deer will be in.

Keep an eye on the classifieds...a used Eberlestock might go for around that.  Or maybe a Cabelas Alaskan with frame.  I don't know what the REI packs go for, but might look at those too.
