Masher moose!
« on: December 06, 2013, 09:21:10 PM »
So a friend of mine gets asked to go on a moose hunt 2 nights ago and look at the picture that gets posted on Facebook yesterday.  His buddy shot the moose.  I don't know any more details.

That's the auction permit moose.
:fire.:

Washington doesn't have a "Governors tag" but same difference.

Typically governor’s tags allow for extra-long hunting seasons. The proceeds are generally plowed back into managing the species for which the tag is given, though auctioning organizations can get a cut of the proceeds. In 2008, deer, elk, moose, mountain goat and bighorn ram tag auctions raised just over $200,000 in Washington.

Governors tags are handled/given away/appropriated by the governor of a state. Our governor doesn't handle ours. The tags are given by the state to Groupks like WSF, RMEF, etc. and then they sell them at auction. WSF sold the moose permit at auction last year at the Snoqualmie Casino at their banquet. I think it went for $40k. Maybe one of the WSF guys can clarify the exact terminology but technically speaking our state's permits of this nature are not referred to as governors tags, just auction tags as far as I know.  Tomato/tomato I guess.
