Got my 2013 mule deer European mount back today
« on: December 08, 2013, 06:21:16 PM »
A friend from my church offered to do a European mount of my mule deer this year.  I'm not really into mounts and taxidermy (nothing against it, just not for me), but I thought it would be cool to be able to give to my 10 yr old son who went with me this year.

I think it turned out great and my son loves it!

And next to lasts year's Idaho mule deer:

And the original:

I think it looks REALLY cool. I'd love to have that hanging in my living room.

Thanks guys.  Any ideas on a simple way to put that Idaho rack on a decent looking wall mount?  I was looking online at some kits from cabelas, but they either look too pricey or too crappy.  Any suggestions for a cheap, but decent way to mount that?  I already have a wood plackard that it would fit nicely on.

I got a few suggestions via PM on the Idaho rack.  I'll work on mounting it myself and post the results.  I have no experience or talent in this regard, so it will likely look pretty crappy compared to the one my friend did for me.  My I want to give it to my 13 yr old who hunted with me in Idaho so he can also have a momento to hang on his wall.  Hopefully next year the will each take their own deer and maybe have their own rack to hang next to these.

Quick update.  Got my Idaho rack mounted for my son.  Put both of them on their walls.

Here is my WA deer on my 10yr old's wall:
(also a nice shed he found and a deer jawbone we found on our trip this year)

Then my other son, who went with me on my Idaho trip, has this now:
(was a quick hack job off that idaho deer - been sitting in my garage ever since.  Cleaned it up, touched it up, and looks good to me!)

Those racks always bring back memories. Great job on given the boys something other then a computer or tv to look at, and hopefully forward too.

Love Euro mounts! They look so cool hangin' on the wall.
