You’d be surprised how many Pheasants and quail wild cats eat also..........

We had the cutest little black and white cat.  She was only a couple of months old when I spotted her "hunting" in the pasture below us.  I thought...."aw, what a cute picture the little thing is trying to hunt".

She leaps in the air and comes down on the back of a rooster pheasant.  He starts flapping his wings and fairly quickly gets airborne.  She's still on his back holding on at he takes off.  He flew about 10-15 feet and got up to four or five feet in elevation before she fell off.

She lived to 16.  Everybody that met her in the house commented on what a sweet and wonderful little cat she was.

She was one tough cat.  Killed everything that moved.  We never had a problem with mice, but the death toll went far beyond mice.

 :yeah:

Cats tend to believe that they are higher of the food chain than they really are  :chuckle: Predator/prey. Good for the eagle

Our cats keep the mice population down and gives the dogs something to hump on.  :o

I hate cats!  Although a few good barn cats I don't mind.  I get some bald eagles at my house this time of year, had one there yesterday.  When I had some chickens I would try to turn one loose and had my camera on the ready but couldn't make it happen :(

Seen it firsthand also,my cousin has an eagles nest near their house, around the base of the tree is all kinds of bones and kitty/small dog collars,a couple weiner dogs bit the big one to the eagles.Nest is 100 feet from their house.Eagles are pretty bold, they built the nest a few years ago,and could care less about all the race cars/dirt bikes/utvs that go on there.

When one of the trees holding an eagle nest blew down two years ago they had found 9 cat collars in it.   :chuckle:
