Newbie Introduction
« on: December 09, 2013, 05:09:16 PM »
Hi folks,

I've been leering around this site off and on for the last year and finally decided it might be a good idea to introduce myself and get formally involved with Hunting Washington.

I have been a bird hunter since I was old enough to shoulder my first shotgun, an H&R Topper youth in 20ga.  Mostly pheasants and quail on the east side and grouse on the west side. I even picked off some quail when I was a little kid with my BB gun and asked my dad to cook them for me!
Last year, I got my first duck, a ringneck and my second duck, a Green Wing Teal.  My dad hated ducks so I had never hunted them until I met another hunter that enjoyed hunting ducks and he took me out there in the crap to bag some webbed feet critters.  This year, I got my first Mallard drake - despite almost freezing my nuts off in the Moses Lake area last weekend.

I'd like to get into deer hunting, a buddy of mine is an avid deer hunter and is willing to show me the ropes, when I'm ready and willing… guess I need to start looking for a rifle…  :chuckle:

I'm also into other outdoor activities like most of you likely are - fishing, camping, hiking, etc!

Anyway, I thought a brief introduction seemed like the right thing to do and this particular section seemed to be the most reasonable spot to post it.

David.

:hello:. Great place for your intro but there is a sticky thread in the campfire for intros as well. Being you have been around the site a while I am sure you have seen how great this place is and how from time to time we get off track a bit as well. Glad you are here congrats on the ducks, good luck with the addition of big game in the future.

I'm up in Arlington, I try to get out shooting up in Oso or Darrington once a week. I take a couple of handgunsand a couple of 22 rifles, occasionally a shotgun to shoot trap or a blackpowder pistol or rifle. I you'd like to get out shooting some time let me know and we can get out. I haven't been out hunting for some time now,but should get out next year.I wanted to try crow hunting, but the season closed down until next September. Something to look forward to, I bought a new Winchester SuperX3 for crow hunting a year & a half ago and never took it out of the box.
