Help finding an engine.

The answer to my question seems simple, until you start trying to find one.
We have a 1968 Mustang Fastback. My wife and I restored it a few years back on a limited budget,
but will be tearing apart again after the 50th anniversary Mustang Rod Run in May.
I need a date-correct engine block for the new engine I will build for it.
The current engine is a 400hp 302. Correct engine, wrong date code "9", it is a 1969 block.
The 3 digit date code on the block must start with the digit "8".
The engine I.D. code must start with C8OE-6015.
C.I.D. is irrelevant, 302 and 289 are the same block.
Anyone have one laying in a junk pile somewhere?

you should call TeePee auto wrecking in sunnyside, they never crush anything and have a huge yard. I bet you could find one there.

You do however have to tell me where you got the headlights. I have never seen a decent conversion.

I might, i have quite a few sb ford parts and have a long block i took out of my car years ago (mine is a 68), it may be a 1966 though as i have built and swapped a few engines around (i had a few all built and ready if i blew one).
I will check it this weekend and let you know...
I gave a way alot of stuff years ago so the 68 block may be gone..

they have a ton of old cars, the ford section is pretty big, the yard is enormous.

I forget the website I found them on, I will try to find it.
They look good but suck. They are projection and barely give enough light to drive.
I have blue LED's all over this car and I got those headlights because hey have holes in them that are just perfect for LED's

I could use a 1967 engine if it has a late code.
The date code is 3 digits, year-month-day.
In early 1968 they ran short of engine blocks and used left over 1967 blocks.
If a 1967 block had a month code of K,L or M, it would still be correct to the car.

honestly a 400 hp 302 with a single eldebrook is streach but if your looking for a 302 numbers block try Rob at action machine a call 206 546-2082 he's a very knowlegible guy
