Making Fireball whiskey
« on: December 12, 2013, 01:42:35 PM »
I am under the understanding that Fireball is actually a cinnamon flavored whiskey liqour instead of just cinnamon infused whiskey.  Is there a way to make this liqour or can I get close by just infusing cinnamon sticks into some whiskey for a few days?  Would infusing cinnamon into cheap whiskey help with the cheap stuffs flavor?

Reason I asked is because I tried some Fireball and Ginger Ale last night and loved it and want to make more but it was the last of the fireball I have on hand.  I do have a big bottle of cheap as dirt whiskey though.

Thanks

Thought about it.....you can of course infuse your booze simply by putting some cinnamon sticks in there. Remember...fireball is more of a whiskey liqueur...not as strong as regular sour mash. Probably cheaper to just buy some fireball.

Because money is beyond tight and I have a half gallon of Monarch quality whiskey and cinnamon sticks on hand right now.

Cinnamon sticks + whiskey = cinnamon whiskey.  Would adding some simple syrup to that make it more of the liqeur that Fireball is?

Thanks.  I like the fireball/ginger ale recipe I found last night and want to make it again.  Don't really care if it's whiskey or a syrup with some alcohol in it

I would suggest adding anyting possible to the Monarch to make it even drinkable. How much worse could it be?

With alcohol I always prederred quality over quantity. If I spent a little more then I drank a little slower.

The cheap whiskey was given to me a few years ago by a friend who went sober.  It's only been opened a couple of times to relieve a tooth ache

Fireball is a much sweeter flavor than either whiskey or cinnamon. I would get some cinnamon hard candies, crush them up a bit and infuse the liquor in that. Then strain the candy out (if it hasn't dissolved completely).

You'll probably want to let it infuse for at least 2 weeks.

That's a better idea I think
