Well I thought I better post my Dink buck from this year. Buck hunting was pretty tough this year with only a couple days of descent rain. I did pass on a nice mature buck the first week of season that I kick myself for passing on. We was very tall with big main forks , dead buck till he stopped and looked at me. Dang thing was only about 13 wide but 14 - 15 tall with about a 10 inch main fork. Not sure how many points but at least a 3 on the right. Big swelled neck and on a doe. Well that was the first rain .
I didnt get the time to hunt like I usually get since we had our first child this past march so guess what, I cant just head out the door to go hunting anymore

. I did end up seeing a bunch of deer but did get out of my normal hunting tactics and hit the clearcuts more this year, I hate clear cuts. The thicker the brush the bigger the buck as far as Im concerned.
Anyway , I had told my wife before buck season started I wanted to call in my buck this year. I did do alot of rattling and estress calls this year eith a few grunts. I called in a few little bucks but nothing nice that I saw. Well on the last day of season we finally had a good rain. I saw a total of 17 deer but nary a bug buck pushin. I just used up all my luck on my bull this year

Anyway I was so wet on this day that my boots were filling up with water. Pants sticking to my legs, couldnt hardly move or pick up my feet. Talk about miserable! On the way out at 1:00 I hit a little reproad patch that you cant hardly see into. Always deer in there. I started grunting. went a few steps and grunted again, now I hear twigs breaking. Ya I knew what was happening, he was comming , and out he popped a little Dink by Dink! Last day for me so BLAMO! Dink buck Down !
Well looks like I filled all my goals this year, killed my big bull and called in my buck

Cant wait till next year already!
