If you use push rods or sliding rods to push springs that is in my patent. If you use a gap to prevent the push rods from hitting the frame, that is in the patent. If you have a catch assembly and use an arm that pivots that holds the door up, that is in my patent granted. If you use a catch arm that the length of the catch arm determines the pressure on the door. That is in the patent granted. If you use a spring to hold the catch arm down, that is in the patent granted. if your release rod makes the door lock, that is part of the claims granted.

It is going to awfully hard to get around both of the patents I have. I haven,t figure out a better way.

I am sorry Kirk didn't mean to infringe on your rights. Tell me, unless I'm mistaken the springs and the way they are set up to power the door are what you have a patent on correct? And if that's the case I will take the springs off the  6 doors I've made and revamp it with my own design. One more thing why don't you sell replacement parts for your traps such as the doors. Because the trigger and the dog on your traps can be purchase at stores or on line and they are what conibear uses. Thank You

Parts- You could not use the parts unless I granted the use of the patents I have. One will not work without the other. Why would I want to allow competition when I am still trying to make it work. It has been tough, very tough.

It is not the same thing. The patents cover the mechanism and linkage.  The patents allow for much more cage trap design, almost unlimited use. That is why they were granted.

There are so many options as to how our traps are used and made, I just haven,t taken the time to explain most of it. And to be honest with you, we are coming up with so much new stuff I am afraid if I don,t make it I will forget.

As far as options; We now have 3 different dogs we use with our traps. Each is a little different than the other. Each works best with a one model trap, trigger, or situation than another. For example: I have recently improved the firing system on my multicatch trap, it is due a lot, as to the relationship of the dog and the new trigger we are using. The little changes vastly improve the trap's ability. It was a good trap before, now it is a great trap. To an  internet surfer it is the same, just haven't had time to show differences on website.

I have developed a new trap that has so many ways to catch an animal, I need to write a book or do an hour long instructional video. There are no public videos showing it. It is all due to the patents granted me. As what a patent is, "property", for a limited time.

Will show over time. Have also developed a powered door folding trap that can be made with two different types of doors. One door designed similar to others but different. It is more stable than any folding trap I have seen and can be set up in about 60 seconds. It also can be used under water or on land as a double door or single door.

I worked hard for my patents and literally applied for them, myself, having a patent attorney finish them up. Because I had no money.

Payroll this week was for 75 hours.

:yeah: I would have to agree with that no one here is trying to take any business from you we are all just here to in joy the hobby and save some money in doing so. I know I for one can't afford to go spend 200bucks per trap and if you have the ability to build it by all means do it. That's just my :twocents:

If these arent being sold it doesnt matter.  I could hammer out a Ford F150 for myself if I wanted (hypothetically of course but you get the idea) for myself...Ford isnt going to come after me.  A patent doesnt stop private citizens from making things for their own use, it stops them from selling them.  Granted im just a dumb civil servant but you might want to ask your patent attorney before you sour more peoples opinion.

To me trapping an animal in a trap I made is part of the satisfaction of the catch. Like I have already stated no one here is looking to sell traps with someone eases trigger or door or what have ya. My self I am just looking to make some traps for lots less than I would spend on buying one off line since there is no one selling them in my local area.  I think we have lost sight on what I started this thread for, the other thing here is to me if I don't want people to see how my trap works or how my mechanism is constructed i would not put it up on YouTube for them to see. For this is the first place people go for a DIY on lots of stuff. So to bring this back to what is was in the first place, where do you all get your wire I found some 1/2 x 1 I am in to it for $15 and the 1/4 rod stock was $1 per foot so far I am into my trap for 35 bucks but I can't find the torsion spring for my door any ideas?

[patent infringement n. the manufacture and/or use of an invention or improvement for which someone else owns a patent issued by the government, without obtaining permission of the owner of the patent by contract, license or waiver. The infringing party will be liable to the owner of the patent for all profits made from the use of the invention, as well as any harm which can be shown by the inventor, whether the infringement was intentional or not. (See: patent, infringement/quote]

I have a patent Dbfalls. You just told the world you are breaking the law and you are encouraging others to do the same. I have given the right to no one. Read the law again, especially the part about liability.

Think of the domino effect if nothing was said.

Read the law again, the infringing party is liable for what ever harm no matter whether intentional or not. You copy my patents and others see what you have done and it causes more infringement whether it is your intention or not. Your liable. You take pictures and videos or someone takes pictures and videos of your copy of my patent that encourages others to infringe on my patents, Your liable. The patents are My property according to the law. You copy, your a thief. Why would I spend thousands of dollars and over hundreds of hours developing a patent, just to let someone copy it if the law didn,t protect me.

As far as souring anything, all I did was point out fact.

The one thing that sucks about patents is that there is nobody that polices them except for the person that owns them.  This is why if I patented something I would sell the patent.  Even if you took a person to court and they were found to be liable for copying a patent, if they weren't making any money off of it you'’re not going to get any money from taking them to court.  Also I saw a couple days ago that the Senate is trying to make it more difficult to sue someone for copying a patent.  Too many frivolous lawsuits filed by patent owners.

Today I got good start on my trap it is 15x21x40 all that is left to do is the trigger and the door. I need to make a run to the hardware store for some steel c canel for the door track and a peace of expanded metel for the door.
