Lube for Benelli Auto Shotguns
« on: December 13, 2013, 10:13:23 AM »
I have a Benelli M2 20 ga that I have put probably 3500+ rounds through in the last few years. I have never had a problem with it cycling ammo until the last couple times out. The problem that I'm having is that when it cycles rounds, the action doesn't fully seat so I get a nice CLICK instead of BOOM. I'm attributing this to the type of lube I'm using (old school Hoppes gun lube). What do you suggest as being the right lube for these guns and where can I find it?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on what else might be causing this, I'm all ears.

I always use break free on all my guns.  Never have any problems.

I just use the benelli oil. You need to take the whole bolt apart and clean it well. And its probably time to clean the recoil spring in the stock of your gun.

Ive seen this in the m2 when theres to much lube and it collects carbon and powder in the action. I always cleaned them then just wiped them down with rem oil. To much lube on benelli's is normaly the problem, give it a good cleaning then very lightly lube the bolt and you should be good to go. If thats not the problem let me know theres a fewother things that can do that but with low of round count id doubt its more then a cleaning issue. I use to shoot benelli's for my last job and have but 1000 through them in a week easy even done it in a day

A good cleaning of the recoil spring and you might also consider replacing it with a Wolff +25% spring.

After thinking back, I probably over lubed it like was said. Going to break it down tonight and clean everything thoroughly and hopefully that resolves the issue. If not, I'll be back for more suggestions. Thanks guys
