Hey guys.  :hello:  Just became the Lake Washington chapter vice president today.  I know a few of you are NWTF members and I hope I can keep you informed on what we are doing here on the west side.

Congratulations, hope it is something you wanted. I remember our chapter elections always were more of a someone needs to.....please......anyone........anyone.............thanks for supporting another year. I really missed it the first year after our chapter folded, my kids really missed it (they loved the banquet). Still see a lot of the guys  and hunt with a few of them so that makes it cool. Now I go the the Pheasants forever banquet and hear they have the same issues we used to.

Russ, thank you for being an active member and doing what you can for the sport. I am certain you will not hear it enough but know there are folks out here that appreciate what you are doing. NWTF was a great time for me and my family for a number of years. I hope the corporate NWTF realizes what has happened to it and our WDFW can figure out what they lost by ignoring what was to be a great sport in our state that really could have been something special.

Thanks.  It was a we need help type thing but I don't mind stepping up.  I enjoy turkey hunting and hoping to help out in maintaining habitat for turkey to thrive so us and our kids can continue to hunt for them.

    Congrats Russ!

I spent 10 yrs as a Local President & Youth Coordinator, member of the State Board of Directors, 3 yrs Puget Sound District Director, and as a Senior Sponser.   Didn't regret it as far as the members and most of the upper management goes (just one incident) .... of course with people like Birdguy and the other members we had, they were always stepping up to the plate and hitting home runs no matter what activity we were doing.   It was a very rewarding experience, but I had to let it go due to serious family health issues, as well as work going bananas.

I actually helped with several NWTF banquets in the area other than just our chapters (including three events with your chapter).

Good luck to you (and say hi to Len for me),     Al

Not sure ... I believe it went from 26 to 3 due to the previous state RD.   :yike:

Since he was replaced not really sure how many now ... you may want to look on the national or state website JB.

The NWTF road the wave of WDFW's turkey introductions for over 20 years, then in the aftermath financially fed off the interest and hard work of Washington volunteers until the well went dry.  When you hire used car salesmen with an attiude and couple that with a national mentality of you need a damn membership for every banquet you support, it's pretty easy to forcast the future.

Like many other conservation groups, they forgot their original intent many years ago, and let the almighty dollar ditate their purpose and direction.  In restrospect, the Washington Wild Turkey Program probably would have been better off without them.  Don't ask me how I know. :bash:

For you members, both past and present, don't take my comments personally, as I too put my time in on the vouleenteer side.  Can't say enough good things about everyone's efforts and dedication.
