Hey fellas,
I am new to duck hunting and have a few questions after my little scouting trip today. So I went down to the public land right outside of Elma where that concrete company is. This may be a stupid question, but I arrived there at about 2:45 pm and not a soul was there. Is that normal for that time of day on a friday for no one to be there?
Also I went down highway 12 a little further to a place that is private land but a "feel free to hunt" area. When I got there, there again was nobody there and the little ponds were lightly frozen over. So my question for this is, if I went out and waded into that area to break up the ice, would that work? Would the ducks then possibly come in to try and land? Like I said, I am new to duck hunting. Never been before so I don't quite know what standard operating procedure is. However, when I was there, I do believe I saw a small group of about 3 ducks fly over. Then a little later, I watched some geese fly off in the distance. So I took that as a good sign. A little while later I heard some gunshots off in the distance. So I don't think those birds were very lucky

Basically I am just wanting to know whether I am heading in the right direction, as in location of hunting, for my hunt trip tomorrow.
I am pretty excited to go tomorrow morning. Really hoping to have some beginners luck. Any help or advice you'd like to send my way before I head out tomorrow is greatly appreciated. Thanks
