My Brothers 11.14.08 Blacktail
« on: November 15, 2008, 01:06:33 AM »
My brother shot this buck at 8:45. This rack is typical of the area we were in, narrow & tall. This guy really puts in his time and hunts hard. Well deserved. Hopefully I can get him to write his story here. This was one of the hardest pack outs I've had the pleasure of helping with. Way to go Jeff!  :IBCOOL: I pulled mine out of the freezer to take a pic of them together. What a great year!

Nice Bucks!  Congrats!

Whats up with the deers eye.  You can see it in the first pick?  Is it just the pic?  Looks like it's all scabed over.

Thanks Michelle. Nope no scabs. That bottom eyelid was just turned out a little.

I'd love to know if he was rutting, feeding, etc.  Waiting till Wednesday's late bow opener is killing me.  I'm seeing black, stinky tarsal glands on my trailcam bucks and hoping they will be still be interested in the ladies by then.  I typically notice a rapid drop in the action after the 15th.

Hey Tom. He definitely had a swollen neck and stinky tarsals. He shot him in his bed. Probably had a busy night. I can tell you part of the story. My brother called me at 9am and told me where he had shot it and I knew it was a pit so I offered to help. I finally got back there at 11am and on my way up had a forky and a spike on the side of the road eating grass.I was about 50 yds then. I got to about 30 yards and the fork moved slowly away, and then I got about 10 yards from the spike before he walked off. No concern at all with me. So we saw lots of movement yesterday.
