Well got it on paper this am put two shots with in a half inch then throw some 95gr bt and hit a 6x8 gong at 618yrds three shots in a row I think its a keeper now to develop a load for it

Hows the recoil for the .243? Mine is only a .270 but sure does kick for a little rifle.

I have a 243 stainless synthetic and the recoil is no more than any other .243.  My .260 I can watch the bullet impact through the scope shooting 140's.  Pretty impresive.  I love them as well.  My stainless MK II 06 thumps pretty good though.

Very lght recoil. I can call my own hits at 600yds

My mk11 has the boat paddle as well. 30-06. Puts a pretty good thump on the shoulder. Agree 100% on the trigger job too. Pretty stiff from the factory. Love the guns though.

Man I wonder if the trigger on mine has been reworked? It breaks like glass and id guess it at 4lbs

It's possible it has been re-worked.  I re-work all mine with a dremel, followed up by some stone work.  Really easy to adjust once you know what to do.      


You got some nice wood in that .243 by the way.

I would guess some work done on it too.  I have the MK II in .300 win mag....factory trigger was heavy.  I had a timney trigger put in and LOVE it.

My buddy loves his ruger 77's,he fiddles with the barrel channel until he gets em to shoot right. I bought one from this forum in .270 from a fellow who said it wouldn't shoot less than a 3 inch group at 100 yards.I conversed with the gunsmith freak kid at work,he said clean the pee out of it with copper remover,remove from stock,and put it back together evenly and shoot it to see what it does.We were going to pillar bed it and free float as a first solution.I took it out and shot it and wowzers 3 shot 5/8 group at a 100,three holes side by side by side and no paper inbetween em.Really nice rifle,light,decent trigger pull,and all in all a dandy shooter.

Congrats on the .243, nice looking rifle! I've got a NIB 7mm-08 Frontier I'll be giving to my gf this week for her birthday. Hopefully it will shoot as well as yours.

Spec Tech makes very crisp triggers for Ruger bolt guns, cheaper than Timney and they are made right here in Washington.

Im going to be working up some loads for this soon. I hope to bring the grouos in a little tighter but im happt with it as it is so far
