Not the way you want to fill your tag in the future! Thanks for sharing! Bet the dog gets a nice couch cushion tonight!  ;)

Good job

However, you should have let F&G take that cougar, kept your tag, and gone hunting after another

Crazy story!  Nice shooting :)

I have 8 kids, but keep my pistol loaded and ready in a nightstand safe - can open and be shooting in just a few seconds if needed.  I also have a 12 guage in the closet rifle safe loaded with home defense rounds - but not fully chambered.  Got be able to let the perp here the pumping action just before I drop him  :chuckle:   Actually, our agreed to process is - I go for the pistol and head toward the threat, my wife heads to the closet and stays there with the shotgun until I give the all clear.

The 9mm was a carbine not a pistol, only type of rifle I have without a scope. Great accuracy and fun to shoot, since I knew the cat had the dog I wasn't going to spray lead with the pistol since I didn't know how close they were when I was getting armed. I agree with having a self defense weapon loaded at all times since an unloaded firearm is just a really expensive rock, but it was not my preference for this situation, looking back there is not much I would have done different accept maybe turn the porch light on and smack the clip harder when initially loading

I was expecting to see a picture of a small cat, was that thing really only 120lbs?? Looks like a good one to me... But maybe I'm just used to all the guys calling their 120lb cats, 200lbers! Nice shooting that's awesome you saved the dog and got a great looking lion out of it.
