Looking for a good Vacuum Sealer

I just burned up another food saver vacuum sealer, this is the 3rd one in about 5 years, not going to ever buy another one of the cheap brands, I see Cabelas has one for 329.00 seals up to 15 inch bags, is there one that stands out as superior to the other brands out there that is in the range of 350.00 dollars

look for a original old school food saver. They had the great pumps before they went to china garbage. Had a rep tell me at the sportsman show years ago. I have bought two old school and they are still sucking. One for over 20 years, Good luck.

Rather than the Cabelas unit, look at the Weston Pro 2300 unit. It is the same as the old Cabelas CG 15 which is what I have. A nice unit for the mid price point.

I run the Cabelas CG-15 and it works great. No issues at all. I was in the same boat with the foodsaver brand. I would burn through those like crazy during fishing season.


My next unit however will be a Chamber Sealer.
Most likely the ARY VacMaster VP215 Chamber Sealer

We use our Food Saver a LOT, haven't had any issues with it yet. Now that I have typed this, I am sure it will break the next time I use it.

I bought the Vacmaster 215c this spring.  No regrets whatsoever.  It is so  versatile and if you use it a lot, it will pay for itself in bag savings alone.  I like showing off to people with it and vacuum sealing water.

I would agree NRA, but the $1500 pricetag is quite a bit for money for most.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I would like the get the Weston Pro 2300, does anyone know were I can purchase one  locally, I'm heading to Puallup tomorrow gonna look at Sport-Co to see what available, I see one from Harvest Essentials on-line but I
would rather just get one from a retail store.

A friend of mine recommended a Foodsaver.  That's what he's had for years.  Seen a lot of others advertised.  Some of them are pretty pricey.  One nice thing about Cabelas is they stand by their products.  I would look at the warranty on a product of this sort...    Seems like it would be needed!

We went through four food savers from 2000-2004.   We use the last one as a back up to the $350 Cabelas unit, in which we fried a pump on one a few years ago. They sent a new unit to replace it. Other than the heat strip wearing out, we still use it alot.

I've seen that v215 for under $900 on occasion.  Hit up google and see.

I got the VP215C with the oil pump for $889 with free shipping.  The only drawback of this unit is it's HEAVY.  85 lbs I think so it behooves one to have a "spot" for it.

Yea.. I will end up with one for sure. The retort bags for canning Tuna will be the cats meow.

That's funny, that's one of the reasons that pushed me over the edge to buy the chamber sealer was the retort bags.  You can make your own MREs basically.  Going to give it a try this winter.
