Today I had the opportunity to hunt with wamuleyhunter and a friend of his, the day was packed with excitement from the time we installed the chains until the point I passed on a good buck (maybe 2). I'm going to let Garrett do todays update because I have been talking too much.

Dan, are you baiting me here...haha, Today was a very exciting day to say the lest. Lets see we meet this morning in the dark, dropped my truck off and me and my buddie jumped in to the snowcat with Dan and headed up to our first spot. Saw deer as soon as the sun started to rise. new deer moving in on the hillsides. Got to a place to throw the chains on and my buddie comes around the back and goes do you hear that...with the look on his face and i go now what.... so to start off the morning after seeing deer really quick, we got to change a flat haha. but a good way to put the chains on. But i wouldnt recommend doing it like that for all four. So back to the deer day. we slowly made our way up the valley, up a road to get on top and do some glassing, a lot of glassing. I am sure Dan never wants to glass again. Seeing small groups of deer scattered. small bucks and such, glassing a huge bowl and canyon, no deer at first then a lone nice 3 point shows up. we continued on our way to the top, glassed some more of where i thought a shooter may be hiding, more does and a couple small bucks. With one nice 22-24 inch heavy 3x4. also saw i think 3 maybe four coyotes in this area. So no big guys, so we pull out of there, head down, and then back up another area to get up really high, we put the snowcat to its limit and Dan on how far he wanted to push it haha, found where the deer werent and also the elevation they were liking. again a few more deer, does and small bucks. I personally am very frustrated at this point. There just isnt very many deer out there. worse than last year as i can see it. So we head out of this area and over to another in the same general area. kind of more on the elevation we liked. making our way, lots of fresh sign, and bam there he is with two little guys. i can see him with my naked eyes, nice buck, walking side hill, then heading up, stops a couple times and looks at us, and then over the hill with his boys. Dan likes him, or so he says he does. I know i like him. especially for this year, and him wanting to maybe make it home for Xmas. But a really nice deer, so we are get around and all three of us make a move, hike through the snow, over a couple little finger ridges above the big timbered bowl, and my buddie elects to go around and try to push em up or see where they are at, while we make it down this small ridge. Well it worked perfect, all of a sudden i see one of the little guys, then the other little guy, but no big boy, crap where is he, did he just try to circle us!!! I was looking for him to do that, look back at Dan, he is looking down, then i look back and i am about 15 yards max from him!!!!! This buck is a super long tined, 26-27 inch 4x4. With eyeguards. not heavy in mass but decent. And with the long sweeping main beams and huge fronts i put him right in the 180 range. i get try to get Dan's attention who is probably 50 yards from the buck, and the buck must have gone "oh *censored*" and bailed down, and then stopped again at about 150 yards broadside. my inner self yelling really nice buck, really big buck!!! shoot please shoot, maybe please shoot!!! and then Dan............ (Dan its all you man, you can finish the story, i mean it is your story, i will add some more to it if i need to
) also add detail to the above if you like.

Wow, great recap Garrett, until the end...
When we saw the two little bucks and the decent buck (24-25", 4 x 4, good mass, tall), I was excited. I wanted to see it closer. We did the perfect 3-man stock (Ryan did the perfect push), I just wish Garrett had a camera instead of the spotting scope. We worked our way out to a knob, both of us knowing we have them cut off. The little guys pop out a ways away, we are both on high alert now. All of the sudden I hear a very quiet whistle, I looked and saw what I thought was the buck we seen from the road was about ready to walk right into Garrett, but I was really confused, the horns looked thinner. The buck busted over the hill and popped up 150ish yards away with 4 other bucks, all on the move. The 3 bucks turned into 5 bucks. What we had was the original 24" seen from the road along with a wide 27" that they picked up in the timber along with another buck. All I could see from my vantage point at 50 yards was a side view of a thinner horned 4 pt, not knowing it was 27" wide.
No powder was burned, the hunt continues. . . . .
