Go get 'em man... tomorrow could be the day you find a shooter!  Or the day after that!  That hour is getting closer every second man, stay patient...  Merry Christmas!

Geez, 50Cal,  from yours and 300's last post, sounds like you've been soundly thrashing yer rig and knees for the cause.  Knowing you, I wouldn't expect anything less.  Still, I'm awefully glad you were able to free up some time to help Dano out.  Meanwhile, gutless wonders like me sit and read about it while you went.  You got a spot in my camp any time.

300 -

What can I or anyone else tell you that you don't already know?  You are the man on the ground and my money is on you to punch the tag with a hog.  You've rightfully held off the trigger so far and continue bashing away and that's all there is to do until it happens.  Garrett's right, you keep on doing your thing and it will happen.  Don't get disheartened and don't fall into the trap of over-thinking it.

Our thoughts and encouragement are with you.  Hopefully this note finds you in fine spirits this Christmas eve and tomorrow brings you the best present ever.  Just know that whatever happens, the real gift has been the opportunity to cavort around the country as a free man hunting a buck without the normal artificial WDFW restraints and all that foofaraw.  Hell, Dan, you're a modern day mountain man!

Keep the faith.  Downing this wall-hanger is right in your wheelhouse.

Merry Christmas!

Man this is tough, I want to be up there giving you a hand and there is no way I can at this time.....You got to hang in there as long as you can. "He" is there.  Beau Patterson the former biologist for that unit has told me " the big ones are rarely easy, they have been hunted up here for 50 years and have been bred into secrecy" I would be sure I was looking in every tiny seculed pocket and every little patch of timber you can. Its really tough what you are doing, even if we drew the tag most of us could not get the time you have to do it right. We are all right there with you and pulling hard!!! Merry  Christmas and goood luck!

Christmas Day,

Today was almost like a day off; I went for a couple hour hike in the morning then drove around some lower country glassing. No chains today. It was a good day for seeing deer, lots of them, but once again, not “the one”. During my first drive after the hike, I saw a perfect 4x4, 23-24”, with good mass and tines. This may come back to haunt me like the deer we found when Garrett, Ryan and I were out. It was about 200 yards away, UPHILL. I would have had it back to the rig, whole, in a matter of minutes. I made it back to the motel early today (2ish) to regroup and recharge my internal batteries.

Not sure where I’m going tomorrow, I’m leaning towards the Methow. Bone, any good leads, ideas, etc?

Thanks for all the encouragement, it is very much appreciated.

Hairy, just sit back have a beverage of your choice and enjoy the show. I do have to ask though, why "Hairy"? :dunno:

rougheye, my legs may get real tired tomorrow so expect a call. :chuckle:

Long story on the "Hairy" 300....  I would love to sit back but this is killing me...  I'm most likely coming over Sat. and have a couple of sleds in the works for play.  I'm confident you'll have the pig down by the time I get there.  If not, me sled you sled.  Have you checked out the power line side of Crum?  Good cover and fairly open at the same time.  Anyway... Merry Christmas!!!!

I'm working on confirming a lead on a big mulie out in the wheat fields.  It's on private land but I can get you permission.  I've got to send someone out to see if it's large enough...  I'll let you know if they can find it again.

Hairy, send me a pm with more detail on the powerline side of Crum. The upper part of that road scares the sh!t out of me. I almost lost the explorer (and me) several weeks ago coming down. That was before all the snow. With all the snow, I'm not sure it would even make it up.

Thanks Pope, I appreciate your efforts.

LOVE the daily updates, the only thing I can see is keep at it, and even if you don't kill the biggest buck in the state everytime you look at it on the wall you will enough memories to last a lifetime from the one hunt that everyone wishes they could have.
