Had them howling yesterday before daylight. Could not get them to come in and never heard them again.

I am headed out to put out my first wolf traps. I will post pics later. I found some major wolf trails yesterday. :}

I would suggest some of you wolf hunters record some hounds baying at a cougar or bear up a tree and play it very loud.   All hound hunters know that a pack of hounds baying is a virtual "dinner bell" call to the wolves.   They will call all their buddies and come in on you in full force.   If you howl with a wolf call you might get one or two curious young stupid wolves but hounds baying brings in the big cahutas wanting to kill a pack of luscious tasting hound dogs.
  Look out though, because they will try and come in down wind.

The more I read about this and hear from my buddies in Montana I would say this would be the trick of tricks

Cool photos of some great trophies!  I'll bet that scene of the wolf running straight at you when neither of you knew where the other was, will last a lifetime.

My Alpha Dog e-caller has a calf in distress call. I have used it once and stopped immediately, it upset the ranchers cows and they were ready to stampede his fences to get to the calf.

That calf call with a coyote pack mixed in might yield some affective results.

No more luck on wolves yet. Been working the traps pretty hard. The weather has been rough. No new snow in 2 weeks. 4 degrees this am. Whats left of the snow is hard and crunchy.

Everyone I know with an e-caller has the hound baying sounds. I havn't had any luck with it. But am sure it works.

could you get some bottles of dog or wolf urine to use with the hound sound?

Had a wolf take a $hit on a pee post set. Just missed him!!! Got 20 more traps to put out this week, Need some snow!!

Had a couple cows hanging round. Cow on left is sniffing my trap. Glad a put up a walk-round stick
