Othello Area Deer
« on: December 17, 2013, 04:26:26 PM »
So I went duck/coyote hunting in Othello last weekend and just like the trip last year we seen one small group of deer, We are hunting large pieces of private property and even hunting coyotes at night so i would think we see more deer. I dont have any plans for deer hunting over there whatsoever but i was just wondering what the deer population is like around there? maybe we just didnt look in the right areas even tho we werent deer hunting we still look for them...

That is GMU 278, last year across all seasons hunters reported killing 67 deer - pretty low deer density.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

There is a few around, I think the majority like to stay across the river.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

in some places you are looking in the wrong places.  some areas have none cuz they get poached as soon as they show up.  that's a fact jack.  mike w

just heard of a deer about 20 miles from Othello in the desert area that is 30 inches with 7-8 points on each side and is really tall.  will inspect it in the next month and will look for the sheds later.  also I will draw in 2014 the desert cuz I deserve it.   mike w

today I heard of a second bigger buck in a different place on private land that WAS MISSED BY THE GOVERNORS TAG GUY CUZ HE SHOT A SMALLER ONE.    HE WAS OVER 30 IN WIDE AND 33 IN TALL, A PERFECT 4X4.    I WILL LOOK FOR HIS SHEDS AS I GOT PERMISSION TO DO THAT.  AGAIN I PLAN TO DRAW NEXT YEAR AND WILL HARVEST ONE OF THESE MONSTERS.     mike w
