What shells would you use to jump shoot where you can jump ducks and maybe upland birds also? I had a break from bird hunting for a few years and getting back in the grove. #4 steel shot ducks and pheasant? What do you all think? One shell to kill them all...

Remington Hypersonics are super fast and great shells, little bit spendy and don't come in the 2 3/4s. Kills all sorts of birds with them.

I like using #4s with an improved cylinder when i am jump shooting for ducks and have oppurtinites for upland as well.

Had good luck with Fasteel 3s-2s. And it's not ridiculously spendy. Assume you're talking pheasants.

#2-4 should work.  It just depends on how close you get.  If your on top of them, open the choke and go with the smaller shot as you have a nice dense pattern.

I assume you are still shooting a shot per bird right?

If that's the case, 3 1/2" #3 with a pattern master super full choke.
It works great, becasue you get a lot more energy in each pellet, and the tight pattern allows for more aimed shots. I.E. shoot 'em in head, they go down quiker.
PLUS... this load will work great on Pheasants... just, count to 3 when you jump the bird.

Heavy Metal is listed by the steel shot size. The Heavy Shot on top of it is 2 sizes smaller. IF you could find Heavy Metal 6's, they'd have size 8 Heavy Shot on top. Not a good choice is there was any distance involved. I do not think Heavy Metal is made in that small of a size anyway.
Example: Heavy Metal 4's means it's got size 4 steel shot under size 6 Heavy Shot.
I love these shells. I shoot the above load for close ducks early season and Heavy Metal 2's for late season, heavily feathered ducks at longer distances.
I think the Heavy Metal 4's would be a good pheasant/duck load.
