My legacy......or the start thereof!
« on: December 21, 2013, 10:40:30 PM »
This season was tough for me. I shot a doe second to last day of season. It was an awesome hunt. I don't want you to think I am belittling the doe and the meat she will provide. It was just not the buck I had been watching. Well next year Will bring new opportunities. This isn't the reason for this post however.

I started going through my pics of my # 2 daughter and her hunting history and decided to post them instead of mine!! She was the only one of my daughters that was able to hunt this year and I guess I got a little sentimental.  :'(.

She is a real trooper. We had a lot of 2.5-3.5 year old bucks this year, but only a couple shooters and they were really being difficult. We decided that if we couldn't kill them, then we would shoot a doe on the last day we could hunt. She really wanted a buck, but decided that a doe would be cool since she had never shot one. She made a perfect double lung shot at 20 yards. With both lungs gone, the doe only went 30 yards and piled up. Now what separates her from a lot of other young ladies is I wasn't home, so the tracking, dragging, loading on 4wheeler, and gutting, and hanging were all done solo!  I got home and her doe was hanging from the forks of my forklift. I don't know if I could have done it any better..

So I am going to post a few pics of her hunting history starting with the first and ending with her doe. ( I couldn't find a picture of her very first buck that she shot with a rifle when she was 11. She also shot her bear when she was 11. The bull when she was 13 and her first bow kill deer when she was 13. Every other deer was killed with her bow also.)  Enjoy. I know I do. Sorry for the non deer species on this thread. Hope it's alright. There is even a tuna thrown in :chuckle:. Don't have a pic of her 32# king :bash:.

Needless to say dad is just a little bit nostalgic....perhaps a little proud also. My little girl is 20 now and will finish her schooling this January. I don't know how many hunting seasons I will get with her now that her"real" life will start. I will take all I can get though and count myself lucky

She's not always super focused in the stand either...pearl earrings, and perfectly tweezed eyebrows.  :chuckle: :chuckle:. Then there's the infamous selfie.

And that sir is exactly what it is all about. This may be one of the best posts I have read this year. You sir are a hunter.
Many people do not understand the importance of getting young people involved and more importantly young women who will raise the next generation of hunters and who will some day be asked to vote for or againist hunting.

My hat is off to you.

You had a great season.
