Coon Hunting
« on: August 27, 2007, 01:58:07 AM »
I'm looking at a job in Dayton and want to know if there is any coon hunting in that area for a guy to run his hounds on. And is there any state regs about hunting coons with hounds?

Yes there are coons and yes you can hunt coons with hounds, 4 Sep through 15 March, except you cannot hunt them with dogs if any mondern rifle seasons are open for deer or elk.  You can hunt coons along the Palouse and Snake Rivers and the tributaries.  What kind of dogs do you run?

Sounds like alot stricter then Montana, but thanks for the info. Currently I go with my cousin and use his Bluetick and Redbone. However as soon as I get my own place I'm gonna get a Plott hound or two.

Nope, thanks Krusty.  Treeing Switches are illegal here in WA.  Once you get set up give me a hollar and we'll go some night.

I've personally hunted the Tucannon(hope the spelling is right) and it's a great place to run them dogs.  I usually stop in and take a night to coon hunt on my way to Idaho.  We've done real good in the past up there.
