first archery blacktail
« on: December 23, 2013, 09:12:58 AM »
I got a bow after the early season ended so I was only able to hunt the late season. I shot a coyote last week and a doe yesterday. I saw tons of deer this season and even a few decent bucks but just couldn't get a good shot lined up. I double lunged this deer at 53 yards. Can't wait for next season!

Thanks guys. I hunted my butt off this year. Glad it paid off. It was skill and luck combined. More luck than skill though. I didn't want to shoot unless I was confident because I don't want to wound one and my arrows aren't cheap. Got to try out my lighted nock! Totally worth the money. Yes that's a grouse. Tried to hit it with an old arrow with a target tip but just barily missed at 43 yards. So I got out the shotgun.  :chuckle: I did not have a rangefinder when I shot the deer. My buddy ranged the shot after we got it in the truck. I guessed 45 but ut turned out to be 53
