Tucquala ?
« on: December 27, 2013, 08:11:48 PM »
So while I was reading the rules I found this lake. It's open during the general season but it also has a odd Regulation. Says no limit on Eastern Brook. Anyone fish it and do they have any size to them?

says its in Kittitas county?

That is the lake that some also call Fish Lake, I believe.  It is up close to the Wilderness Boundary and is near the head of the Cle Elum River.

I've never fished it either, so I'd like to hear about the fishing.  I assume the Eastern Brook are not native so they are trying to rid the lake of them?  :dunno:
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Been a few years since I have fished the lake but it is very shallow and more of a marsh than a lake (Cle Elum river flows through it).  Last time I fished there it was loaded with stunted EB's.  Beautiful area up there but the fishing is a bit better in the the river itself which sustains a better population of bows, cutts and EB's.

 :yeah:

Lots of fun on super ultralight gear and tiny spinners. They attack the spinners and a lot of times you can watch multiple fish race to the lure. Most fish up there will be 4 to 8 inches with the rare fish going 10 or 12 inches. The river is much more productive. Beautifully colored fish up there. We have always just released all the fish we catch up there.

Thank you for the info. I just thought it was odd that there would be no limit on easterns. I know Montana has some real liberal limits on Brookies. We used to go catch " Montana Creek Monster's" for the wifes grandma it was like 10 pounds but when they are all about 5 to 6 inches I can imagine just how big of bucket you would need. You show up with a batch of " Monster's" and it was all stop out came the skillet.
