Cabelas Vacuum Sealer
« on: December 26, 2013, 12:11:03 PM »
I'd like to hear any opinions on the Cabelas "Commercial-Grade" vacuum sealers. They have the 15 inch model on sale for $330, regular price is $450. The 12 inch model is also on sale, for $280.

I read through some of the reviews on Cabelas website, and if you look at the average rating, it makes them look good, as it is 4 out of 5 stars. But some of the reviews are extremely bad. So I'm not sure what to think. Many people are saying it's junk, garbage, worthless, etc.

I'd like to hear opinions from people on hunt-wa who have actually used them. Thanks

Tried one and didn't like it. I prefer the FoodSaver brand.

Not 100% sure on that "New" version. But I have the older CG-15 model and have been very happy with it. I would burn up 1 - 2 foodsaver brands a year. My CG-15 is going on 3 years strong.

I do however still buy the Foodsaver brand bags. I am not fond of the cabelas bags they are thin and do not seal as well IMO.

It depends on how much you use it. Some people they work great, but we use ours a lot and for extended periods of time. We went through 3 of them before finally stepping up to a true commercial grade chamber sealer. The good thing is cabelas has a great return policy, but still, that thing is nowhere near commercial quality, although it's definitely an upgrade from a food saver.

CG-15. Been using it for a lot of years now. Did replace the white sealing strips which whore out from pushing to hard I think? Been a grate machine. Would be nice to get a true chamber style sealer. Big $$$$$$$......

They're good vacuum sealers for the money.  $330 on the 15" model is a great price as well.  We've used one for years, and have had it replaced a couple times.  Cabela's usually covered the costs or sent back refurbed models.  Definitely not the quality of the more commercial models, but for their price range, I feel they're near the top. :twocents:

All you guys looking for processing stuff, check out Northern Tool's website.  It amazes me all the stuff they have, and good prices!  It looks like the same stuff Cableas sells, at a lot more money.   I bought a welding hood from them a couple of years ago, and now I'm on their mailing list!
