Fur prices dropping

 Looks like fur will drop considerably this year. This one article is of the "touchy, feely, don't fret" variety but other sources are indicating a big drop. Anyone have more info on this?

from what i have been hearing it looks like the long haired fur(bobcat, coyote) should not be affected. the wild mink, beaver and otter may see  a decline from the may sale, however remember that sale had very high prices. muskrats they are saying might come down some too however i just saw a sale in MI. where the average was still 12 something this was a local sale so country buyers. i also think there will be a shortage of rats it was still pretty dry in the midwest. Noone can predict the furture i have sold a lot of rats for under 2 dollars so we will see what happens. get out there and catch what you can if you don't catch it you can't sell it, most of us are doing it for fun anyway.

So, How can you really tell?
 We have yet to have an international sale except some ranch fur in Euope. Some of the country buyers are talking about reduced prices but that seems normal to me. It is only natural they would try to talk prices down now.  At the first part of trapping season they were talking big price increases. That stimulates production now that the fur is in the pipeline is it any wonder they are talking lower prices.
I am going to take a wait and see attitude.

Don't you guys get it? The Chinese are not attending because many of them are under investigation,or worse yet,wanted for falsifying documents,or not paying there tax obligations. Many would be busted as they tried to leave the country. The few that are attending sales but not buying are not sure they could get the fur into china. They are there to observe,and hopefully purchase at some point.
This issue is not about Groeny or NAFA,or for that matter the value of fur. I've said before,and will say it again. THIS IS A LEGALITY ISSUE IN CHINA AND WILL TAKE TIME TO RESOLVE (or not).
Think of it like this. If there was a crackdown on cat houses in Detroit,would you still be a patron? (not that any of you ever were). You may peek around the corner,but think better of it.
Time will take care of the issues now facing the fur trade. BUT,it may take a considerable amount of time.
The best we can hope for at Helsinki is a strong ranch fox sale. Good luck an Merry Christmas. Terry

That is Terry Manly and he is one of the largest NAFA reps in the country and the unofficial voice of NAFA Corporate. He doesn't say anything they don't want him to say. I hate his short bald azz but he is 100% correct. The rumor is NAFA has not been paid for all the Chinese fur yet and has millions and millions outstanding and unable to collect it.
