Dropping Early
« on: December 25, 2013, 07:03:50 PM »
I've found a pair of fresh forked horn sheds in klickitat while I was up there messing around! Has anyone else found any early sheds, don't know why they are dropping them sooo early!!! :dunno:

It seems like this gets posted every year.  We have been finding sheds in late December since 1998 when I first started shed hunting.  Nothing new to our group in NE Washington.  Just a bit harder with the 3 feet of snow.

Good find! I usually see a blacktail or two loose their horns before January.

A buddy of mine found a fresh matched set of blacktail antlers last week.  He did some rough measurements on them and figured they'd score around 103".  I'd never heard of bucks dropped their antlers this early.

Here's the little 3 point side I found in west Klickitat while I was on a little hike with my new shed dog. Sorry I didn't get any field pics I wasn't really expecting to find anything so I left my phone in my truck.
