I've been to several wild game feeds. Maybe it was just because i help kill all the coon or it was just that good, I don't know, but that was the one thing I ate the most of. It was BBQ and if you were to put it up against beef it would be hard to tell the difference. I've tried smoking it too but it didn't turn out as well (shouldn't have used a big boar).

Have any of you ever used it to bait any other critters?
When I was trapping coyotes years ago, I used coons and possums as bait.  Bobcats would rarely come in to coon meat but tended to prefer chickens.

Google diseases  raccoons can transmit to humans and see what you find.

You can get sick and die from the milk in your fridge too, what's the point?  Just cook it completely.  If you don't want to eat it, then don't.   :dunno:  I'm guessing noone on here that has eaten it has caught anything from it.

To the OP, like most things, some people seem to like it, some don't, just like many foods.  You will not know until you try it.  I would suggest trying a younger one for yourself. If you like it, keep eating, if not, don't.  It would be a shame to throw out many pounds of meat in a year if it turns out you like it.   :twocents:
