We don't delete profiles since many members change their minds and come back again in the future. This way your profile will be here if you decide to come back.

Why would you want to delete your profile? I'm confused.

If you just don't want to be on this site anymore, then don't log in.

1 - Turn off GPS tracking on your phone, it's an option.  If you don't know how, then Google search your phone model and find it that way.
2 - Just go back and delete your pics you've posted. I'm pretty sure on a forum based website it doesn't have the capability to read encoded GPS tagging, I could be wrong though. I know Facebook etc does so if you're posting pics there, then stop.

I thought it was a little over the top until I understood his reasonings. Still doesn't need to flip out though just work smarter.

Smartphone users who don't realize or turn off the geocoding option in their phone really ARE broadcasting legitimate GPS locations of where pics are taken.. It's encoded in the metadata of the picture file. So imagine you're hunting your honey hole no one knows about and you get the buck of a lifetime - snap a pic - upload directly from your phone to Facebook or somewhere. You just broadcasted to the world exact coordinates where, and a time stamp of when, you harvested that buck. Then someone worth a little know-how will find that spot.

No...No, it won't. What would be un-retarded(if that is a word, not that it matters) is to 1)do what Smossy's Girl said with Location services on your phone and 2)delete your pictures. You can do all of that yourself.

Just sayin'....

I was thinking the same thing and I would bet that a few shed hunters saw that little rant and will use it as motivation to find some of his spots. lol

No disrespect to the OP it is the responses I enjoy.  To the OP I too think you should be able to delete your own profile.

Yes I was kidding.   Much to the OPs expense.   We have evolved to this policy due to circumstances that have unfolded in the past.  A brief explanation that I am sure will still not make it clear to some why....

member x gets all bent out of shape, wants to take their ball and go play somewhere else in the playground, we oblige and delete their profile and then after a cool down period they want to come back.  The behavior often repeats.  Take ownership of what you post.   By not deleting everything, this sometimes thwarts some of the behavior  that some members might have if they have the option for cleaning the slate.  We also wanted to take in effect how this cheapens the involvement of what active members may have posted.    I am sorry you feel this is retarded.  Just log off and don't look back.  When you change your mind in three weeks after you find that awesome shed you want to brag about, you can log back in.
