Robin hood
« on: November 10, 2008, 05:20:07 PM »
Went out practicing my punching and started feeling better at 10 yards, so i started moving back at 20 yards and when i finallly started coincentrating at 20 yards my 5t arrow robin hooded....i will post a picture or video later.....

What are the odds of shooting a robin hood.

:yeah:  The first few are neat, then IMO it's a waste of good arrows.

I don't know what the odds are but I've got one. It was from 30 yards with my old Hoyt and gamegetter II 2117 aluminum arrows with feather fletching. It was fun and I still have the arrows stuck together as my "trophy".

I would say that the odds go up drastically the more arrows you stuff into a small area. It would be a trophy if you were able to shoot a  "Robin Hood" with two arrows only, otherwise it is just an accident  :twocents:

Nice job on being consistant though !!!   ;)

Exactly. Why throw money away when you can just shoot at another dot. :chuckle:

My suggestion is get your first robin hood, save it as a trophy, then start shooting one arrow at a time, or at different dots.  Robin hoods get expensive fast!

It cool to do tell you start spending a lot of money on arrows :chuckle: I have lost 6 arrows to robin hoods in the last year,3 at 20yd's 2 at 30yd's and 1 at 60yd's. Now I have to go buy another half dozen to make up for the lost arrows :bdid:

I had my first one last week. Shooting at 40 yards & shooting good groups. More luck at 40 yards than skill. Put it up on the garage wall. Did ruin two carbon arrows, plowed it dead center and buried in about 10 ". Nobody in family was excited or understood, so quietly mounted up on wall. Mike

Very cool, congrats on your first robin hood.  Shooting carbon arrows they get expensive when that back arrow is still perfectly good.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Yep, got my first, mounted it on the wall, and quit shooting groups.  Brand new arrows, and shots 1 and 2 are now permanently stuck together.........

Congrats on your first!

I wont shoot at one spot more than twice at 20 yards.  With arrows being 120 bucks a dozen it would get too expensive.  Way to go though.

I have yet to robin hood my own arrow. I got a friends arrow during indoor small game league, it got me a 10 score and still got the arrow back. I don't shoot groups any more though, the price of arrows isn't worth it. I have enough trouble loosing them or breaking them during 3D. Congrats on a nice shot, if I ever do get one it will be hanging in the garage right above where my bow hangs. :IBCOOL:

I dont know about you guys out there, but i have only been shooting for a very short time, and practicing alot this last week, once a day if i can get to the range. More so for strength than anything else, since my surgery....which recently has become more bad news, but as long as i can pull my bow back im gonna.

So i am practicing for an indoor target compatition, got a few of my bare shaft epic 340s fletched up and the first time i go out to test out my anchor spots, and consentrate on punching i BOOYAH.....smach......... crash.....really bad noise...i was pissed cuz i though i tore another vane off....

But no, i freaking robinhooded it.........at first i didnt believe it, and then i was pissed about the 2 brandnew arrows...and then i was like holy crap.........

well here is a picture guys just so you dont call me a liar.........

i have the arrow still together the other shaft went about 8-10 inches into the other shaft knd of cool, cuz you can see that the shaft was still spinning into the other as it went into the back of the other shaft....and the nock was completely cut in half, which was way cool to..........

Sweet...never done that, but I don't usually don't shoot at the same spot at less then 30.  Tired of having to re-fletch all the time even with field points.  Maybe some day I will be lucky or good enough to actually get a "Robbin Hood".  Good on ya and glad I did not have to lay out the 20 bucks for the arrows..ha ha.

I don't like to waste / ruin arrows anymore than the next guy but a robin hood is cool stuff on purpose or by accident. Way to go and hang that thing on the wall.

the first time shooting my bow i was shooting groups and broke a couple nocks...thought for a minute that a robin hood would be cool the first time shooting, then remembered how much the arrows cost that i just bought. from that point on at $10 a pop i decided  to shoot spots, not groups, and watch all you other guys shoot the cool robin hoods.
congrats i guess...good consistent shooting.
