Rock Island Armory.......impressions
« on: December 30, 2013, 06:14:53 PM »
I did some on line reading today, about Rock Island and their guns.  Most of the reviews were positive, and I'm leaning in this direction. Ya they ain't purty like a $1000 piece. But I can buy a new Dillion press with the price difference.  Anyone out there have RIA handgun? Whats your impression?  Don't hold back!!

I know of 3 people with them, they are all happy. On one the sights were off quite a bit, but that is fixable

I really like 1911's, I haven't shot a Rock Island  in .45 but I test drove a friends Rock Island 1911 in 10mm. For the money you won't go wrong. I looked at several basic 1911's awhile back, I was just looking for another plane Jane .45. I ended up going with a Para Ordnance GI Expert.

I've been looking at the 10mm and it has gotten great reviews. Almost bought one, but not yet.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Never owned one, but a good friend of mine bought one to shoot in GI matches. It worked so well that he went and bought a second one for his son. This is a guy who didn't hesitate when he dropped the cash on his Les Baer or Wilson Combat 1911s. That was a pretty strong endorsement to me.

Know alot of cowboy action guys that love the standard GI for their Wild Bunch classification.

Mine,  a 10mm would drop the magazine every shot and throw brass almost as far as the bullet. I did some tuning and now it stacks up empty cases 10 feet away and will feed empty cases from the magazine as well as function with 45 mags. For the cash. .....you can't beat it.....but it might need some love. In there defense,  they offered to fix it.....but I refused.
