Squawfish recipes
« on: August 27, 2007, 01:05:20 PM »
My son and I caught two 17 in squawfish yesterday.  We have been told that they are delicious and want to try them.  Does anyone have a recipe for squawfish?

The only recipe I've ever seen for squawfish includes knocking them over the head with a big rock and chucking them in the brush.......... ;)
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

I was going to say mix them with a big rock or two, but some fellow smart a$$es beat me to it.  I'm glad you caught them and removed them from the system.  Some places you used to be able to make a buck or two on them if you turned them in.  I'm not sure that still happens anywhere.

there  is a bounty for them on the big C. there should be a bounty on them on the yakima.... >:(..... but hell they are a native species...
i have never heard of anyone eating a squawfish except a raccoon. i've also heard them and whitefish referred to by many different names. i know people target whitefish for the smoker and they reportedly very good.

The only joy I get out of catching a Squawfish while walleye fishing is bouncing them off the gunnell of my Lund.  These are trash fish that need to be killed.  As for a recipe............I work for a living so I dont have to eat things like squawfish.....nasty!

Eating squawfish is like eating carp, I have better fish in my freezer.  The best thing that I have ever done with a squawfish, besides getting paid for them by the Bonneville Power Administration(the dam people) is throw them at my fishing buddy which always turns into a game of squawfish baseball. @FISHBOY  You uneducated, dumb SOB! Do you even know that Squawfish is a Native North American Species of Fish, and it's part of this Eco System! I hope one day Fish and Wildlife Cops catch you killing Squawfish for no reason and will give you 5000 dollar fine and take your License away for at least 3 yrs! Because A..holes like yourself, have no Business Fishing on Lakes and Rivers, where normal ppl g and take their Children to Fish. Hey Dumb ass you know that you can ONLY kill Fish for no reason if they're an "INVASIVE SPECIES" like Asian Carp,Sneak Head,Big Head Carp, etc! You're NOT ALLOWED TO KILL NATIVE SPECIES Idiot! You are what is wrong with this Society. How did you ever be able to get your License at all??? I wish I witnessed you Killing Squawfish,I would immediately Call the Fish Cops and laughing my ass while they impound  your Rods,Vehicle, and your Boat!!! You should be ashame of yourself!!!
