Really?
« on: January 02, 2014, 01:48:39 PM »
Had about 20 wigeon circling my decoys this AM, coming in for a final pass.  Safety off... Dogs ears perk up.  ::Vrrrrrrrrrrrrooooom::  Cessna bombs out of the fog right above the flooded field I was hunting and literally gets about what I estimate 300-400ft above the decoys, close enough to see the pilots seahawks "safetyshirtz" hoodie.  Of course the birds flared and flew away.   I was hotter than a wet hornet, he came back for a pass before heading back up the valley - I gave him a nice hand gesture.  :hello:

Anyone have any Richards do anything like this to you guys out in the blind?

A few years ago I was duck hunting at Cherry Valley and I had a Cessna make the approach and do a practice land along the canal I was set up in.  When they, instructor and pilot?,  circled around to try it a second time, I just stood up and put my arms out to my side, WTH?  and they flew across the highway and practiced north of the area.    It was something to see and I'm glad I didn't have any birds working over my decoys.  It was very slow at the time and was a nice distraction.

I was about two miles from Cherry Valley as the crow flies... Probably something similar.

Too bad you didn't get the tail number, FAA has a website that you can put the N number into and get all the info on the plane.

Maybe it was WDFW doing bird and hunter surveys. They do counts via aircraft several times a year.

Strange. But let me ask you this, Have you ever seen someone flying a drone at Crescent? I was hunting there last weekend and I *censored* you not a DRONE flew over the lake, it had big red and green lights. It was almost totally silent......
The deer are exactly where you find them, and no where you dont!

Local guy. He has property near the river.
I have seen him a number of times. He flys all summer too.

I had the same problem a few years ago on the Potholes. During the middle of our hunt a Sheriff pulled up in his boat and was looking for a missing person that was camping out there all weekend. We told him we saw someone walking (probably another hunter) around about 200 - 300 yards from our spot and about 30 minutes later there was a Cessna flying around us for a couple hours. Lets just say, not many birds came near us after that.  :bash:

lol... that sucks man.

Atleast it wasn't an AC-130.
Had one come out of freaking nowhere once when we were fishing Rufus woods....  literally heard silence, then BOOM!  the sucker buzzed us at such a close range he made wakes on the lake, and went right over us.
LOL... it was intense. But we at least weren't hunting.
It was pretty cool. After he almost killed us... lol...  he preceeded to gain alt and did the little tip with his wings, as to say, "I got you."
Guess it was fun for him to scare the s*** out of people on training missions.   :chuckle:

Jimbo: "That's right, Stanley. Animals are much easier to shoot in the morning."

This.
Dozens of small planes fly the valley all the time. Pretty safe to say it's not a drone.

What I saw flying over Crescent was no small plane. We are talking something that prob weighed 30-40lbs, was in a complete hover over the water. No wings, but small vertical rotary blades.

Large green and red running lights on the side. It was definitely remote controlled. It looked like the driver wasnt the best at controlling it. Why is some one running a drone in a posted hunting area?

Had a guy fly an ultra-light over the field at Smith farms in Stanwood a long time ago.

A shot rang out and he had a 10 gauge hole thru the right wing.

He landed in the field across the hwy.

Sheriff interviewed everyone when they came out. Everyone had a few choice words for them, but no info on an ID of the shooter.

Last time we saw the ultra-light.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!
