Are all the elk in Hancock/Kapowsin and White River area Roosevelt Elk? I thought most were Rocky Mountain until you were over toward the coast more. Anyone know?
Nice Bull, I've seen many like it and bigger in there. If you know where Camp 1 is, I was born and raised there, lived there more than 25 years off and on and have seen many a nice bull in there. About ten years ago, we had an 8X8 running a bunch of cows right up behind the houses that I swear you could fit a Volkswagon Bug in its rack. Congrats!
They are actually Hybrids. The remaining wet-side herds are Rocky Mountain/Roosevelt elk hybrids and include the Mount St. Helens, north Rainier, south Rainier, Willapa Hills and Nooksack herds. The genetic research has been done by several WA. State Game Biologists.
