Late Season Whitetail
« on: November 11, 2008, 05:49:23 PM »
This is my first year doing archery, and I'm thinking about heading over to Colville or Republic next month with my bro.  I noticed the season ends on the 15th, but I was hoping for some feedback to which weekend we should hunt.

Is the last weekend getting too late, or will they still be rutting...or should we head over earlier?  Thanks in advance!

Snoho.

the last week would in my opinion be too late unless you got a main food source nailed down I would go soon as you can. by the 2nd week of december those bucks are pretty haggard and wont be moveing all that much, just my  :twocents:
Its all about the bone baby!

I would do it before Nov 30 th, starts to really taper after that, and if the area really starts to get dumped on it changes the deer behavior alot. Nov 20th -26th is the best in my opinion, biggest bucks myself and dad have taken are in this window.

Looks like the consensus is pretty much what I said in my PM.  I would plan on going early for the best of the rut hunting.  Once they stop, they pretty much hole up somewhere and rarely move.
