Powder Question
« on: January 05, 2014, 05:33:24 PM »
Looking to start reloading for my .300 Weatherby but I'm not sure which powder to use.  I was told to buy Imr 7828 but all I have found so far is Imr 7828 SSC.  Will the SSC work?  Going to use 210 gr Bergers if that helps.  Thanks.

H1000 is a exellent/accurate powder option for the 210's,  it will keep you in the same velocity range as IMR 7828 with about 2-3 grains more powder. IMR 7828 is a good powder I'm just mentioning H1000 as a alternate if you can't find 7828. Hooked On Toys had H1000 on the shelf the other day when I was in there.

It's the same stuff.  SSC stands for Super Short Cut... It means the long extruded grains of powder are cut shorter so it meters better out of a powder measure.  Grain weight for grain weight will be the same.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

The SSC is a huge improvement over the standard 7828. The shorter granules fill the case much better and meter better from a powder measure.
