Win Mod 70 Youth Stock Question
« on: November 12, 2008, 10:40:12 PM »
I have a Winchester Model 70 Youth .243 that was my first rifle. Thankfully, my dad talked me out of selling it last year (I think I would have regretted it). It has a 22" barrel if I am measuring it correctly. My question is, can I put this barrel/action into a full size stock? I was looking at some of the Boyds stocks on gunbroker cause I don't need anything super fancy like a McMillan for what I want out of this rifle, and I have heard good things about the Boyds stocks. Thanks.

There should be no problem putting it in a full size stock.  The stock and maybe barrel length are the only thing making it a Youth model,(so it is shorter than a full size rifle for the pint sized hunters).  You can also have a gunsmith add a spacer and a thicker recoil pad to it, to extend the length of pull as well.  Unless you just have to have a new stock, which is not a bad thing either.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

I just like the look of the wood laminate and figured if I kept the youth stock untouched, then I would have it in the future.
