insanity cpxl speed
« on: January 08, 2014, 09:42:56 PM »
So tomorrow im going to be testing the speed of my insanity cpxl. Im going to shoot it at 60lbs 31" with a 470gr arrow and im going to crank it to 72lb with the same arrow and see if it will shoot ibo or close to it. I may shorten the draw to 30" and see if the 350gr arrow will hit 340

All right oad strong peep dloop and a 470gr arrow 30.5" draw 60lbs = 269fps same arrow @ 70lbs was 289fps. 420Gr arrow came in at 303fps and ibo weight arrow hit 318fps. Dont think thays to bad with a loaded string.

So just added up all thats on the string and theres 69grns on the string. With the 10 nock sets on the factory sting that they do for speed.

Proof. 60Lbs 470gr

70Lbs 470gr

Sounds like we are close. I took the chrono outside and was putting the 470gr arrow out of the bow at 320 four shoots in a row :dunno:

So after some arrow weight check my what I was told where 350gr arrows are really 373 so my bow is shooting slightly over ibo rating. The 420gr is 4fps over what they should be and the 470 is 2fps.  Im thinking ill pull the nock sets and see if it picks up any speed :dunno:

When it shoots slower what are you going to do? :chuckle:

Always fun to play and learn what really does make a difference in equipment.  But, don't forget...it's better to kill'em at 200 fps than to miss them at 400 fps.

Keep In mind that some of those nocks or "speed Knocks" were put on the string to generate speed so don't be real surprised if you don't see the gains that you are thinking you will see.

Just a thought.

Sort of expected that.  But, what did you experience in regards to vibration and feel at the shot?  On a lot of these large cam bows there is a big difference with that.  I've never tried it with the CPXL and would sure be curious what you thought.

Sounds like you are having a lot of fun!  I feel jealous as work is so busy these days I don't get to play like that much anymore.

Sure...blame the old guy :chuckle:

Glad you are having fun.  That's the best way to learn.  I never could fully understand when just reading the pages of a book.  Hands on really brings the ingredients to life.
