Anybody own one of these and if so, how do you like it?

I played around with one in 454 a few years ago. I really liked it as a carry gun. It was just as accurate as any full size Super Redhawk I've shot, just a whole lot louder!

I'd be all over one in 480 Ruger!

they are a solid gun only shot one in 44 mag but surprisingly accurate.

Check the gun library at the lacy cabelas. There was one in 44 mag there a few days ago.

back when I was load testing for my Super Redhawk I pounded out a few 5 shot groups in the 1 to 1 1/4 inch range at 25 yards.   All it took was a steady trigger pull and no yanking.  Yanking sorta messed with group size.   It shot about what my .44 Dan Wesson does.  Both very accurate.

I have the standard Super Redhawk in 44 and its my favorite gun for the woods hands down.  I bought the Ruger Alaskan in 454 casull a few years back specifically for bear defense when I was fishing Alaska allot...it shoots well but I have no shame to say that thing really hurts to shoot...I have the 2 inch barrel and its all  I can do to empty a cylinder,,,it hurts my hand and should real bad...put 45 long colt in and my wife likes to shoot it...to me its just for defense and not pleasure shooting

Cabelas in Marysville (Tulalip) has a 44mag Alaskan in the Library for $799. It was there yesterday, you can call them and put it on a five day hold, 25% down and two months to pay.

Had that model in 454, shot a couple bears with it, but it was so freaking heavy to pack - was an excellent AK boat traveling gun...  Went to S&W .44 Back Packer to lighten up the load significantly...  Now here in WA it is a safe dust collector...

My funds are really low during the winter, If Cabelas had this 44mag Alackan in March I'd put it on Lay-Away. It's just one of them guns that everyone should have in their collection. Just like a Ruger Single-Six, a S&W 686, a S&W 629 Classic, a 1911.

If you buy an Alaskan in 44mag, you might think about buying a shorter barreled Redhawk instead. The weight is 45oz for the Alaskan, but a SS 5" Redhawk weighs in only 1.5oz more for hundreds le$$.  But if you want harder hitting Griz protection in the 454 casul or 45LC, then you'll need to go with the Alaskan.  There is also one available at a gun shop in Anacortes.

This makes me miss my 5" 44mag and my 4" 45 Colt Redhawks.

Shooting 300 gn XTP's at full pressure is no fun in my Alaskan. But boy could they get the job done! I would not run these thru a lesser handgun.

i have a super redhawk 44mag, i think a 9 1/2 in barrell, it shoots awesome, ya gotta hold on with two hands when you shoot mags through it though idk if it is the same as the one you got
