Boise, ID help
« on: January 12, 2014, 02:12:32 PM »
My wife and I are moving to Boise, ID for 5 months of schooling starting in may. We will only be there short term, but are bringing our dog, Trigger, a german shorthair that has tons of energy and needs to be run daily. Has anyone lived there in the past/present that knows of good off leash ground to run a wide ranging dog in that is close to town? If we can find a good spot, it will dictate which apartments we move to because we would like to live close to running ground. Thanks for any leads! :IBCOOL:

Jared

My sister just moved back from Boise about 2 months ago. She lived in some apartments just off the green belt in downtown. Tons of running, biking opportunities. It's a great area. I think she was more on the south side of the city. All I remember is you take the main university exit go a couple miles and take a right and it led into an area with a lot of apartments and the green belt was just a short walk away. The green belt goes along ways and follows the Boise river. It's a cool place!

Hulls Gulch, just past Camel's Back Park - great hiking/biking trails in the foothills. Lots of people with their dogs off leash and plenty of different ways to go.

Drive N.E of Lucky peak resevoir ( on the east end of Boise) about 3 miles first road to your left you can run/ walk in mediocre bird habitat till your lungs burn. :yike: I know from experience
