Backyard blacktail down (added story)
« on: November 13, 2008, 10:03:26 AM »
This morning my son called and said he got a deer and needed help!here are some pics!Just wanted to add to the story! My son had permission to hunt a friends property so he went there several times the last week of the general season,he only saw a few does here and there,I think the property is only 20 acres so he was limited where he could hunt.Well on the opener of the late hunt he got there just as it was getting light, sitting in his truck eating deer pepperoni from last years deer,he saw some movement in the orchard,he looked through his bino's and saw that it was a buck so he got out of the truck and got his gun ready and took a shot,he missed, got steady
and then dropped him,he immediatly called me and said dad you need to get out here I just got a big 2 point.I loaded up some stuff, camera and backpack with knife and headed out to help him,my cell phone rang again and he said I guess its a 4 point!
This was his first blackie,I have never taken a blacktail buck myself so he's got one on ole dad!  Jerry

That is a great deer, I have shot some really nice bucks in my life time and I would trade any of them for that buck. Man I want a huge blacktail like that. Congrats...  :o

With a blacktail that size he's got one on a lot of us. That is a tough lookin brute. Nose looks a little Roman. Would make a great mount. Congratualations to your son.
