Stripped lowers on sale
« on: January 13, 2014, 10:49:00 AM »
For anyone that is interested in building an AR Palmetto state armory has got a deal on Anderson lowers right now.  I picked up one and figured for the price it was worth a try.

They are having a hard time with thier website right now.

I had been looking around for the last week or so hoping to find a good deal on one.  Then when I found this one I couldn't say no.  Looks like most of the reviews are positive so I thought that for the money they were worth a shot.

Question: The lower must be sent to a FFL, correct?  Even if the price is low ($49.99), doesn't the transfer fee wipe that out?  What am I missing?

Correct, the lower has to be shipped to a FFL for the transfer.  But the transfer fee is usually not high enough to wipe out the savings, at least on this deal.  I'm paying 20 for the transfer fee, and even found a place that was 15.  The cheapest I will find in town for a stripped lower is about 100.  I also added a complete lower build kit including stock for 80. So for 130+ shipping and transfer fee I will have a complete lower.  It works out to about 170 with the transfer. But, I also ordered more than one lower so that will make each one slightly cheaper also.

I've heard of FFLs taking a little off for multiple transfers, but still charging for every one.

That gets them off the hook for the "straw purchase" charge.  The guy they're transferred to is responsible for handing them off to someone who can't legally own them!  :sry:
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I think if you have a good relation ship with your gun dealer then your not gona get charged full boat if you buy multipal. If you dealer is charging the full $30-40 ea then you might as well buy some place else. OR you may want to make friends with a guy that has his FFL.  :twocents:
