Good Guys
« on: January 15, 2014, 02:51:00 PM »
With all the negitive runs ins we seem to have, I wanted to post something different.
I was able to get out this morning and hunt a lake that gets a lot of pressure. Just as I was getting ready to launch a gentlman and his wife pull in and asked where I was going to set up. We came up with a plan that aloud us to work our dog and birds with out any issues. Though the fog kept the birs from flying we all got some shots and a bird or two.
There are still some good guys and gals out there.   :)

Good post! It's very often I forget to enjoy the "good guys" too.  Met a few this season in the field.
Don't forget to pick up your shells!

There's LOTS of good guys out there.  It's just that the bad guys always get the attention.

If anyone is at the launch when I get there or shows up while I'm launching, I always start a conversation as to where I'm planning on going(if I'm there first)and ask them what they're plans are. And I wish everyone good luck.

I do not remember their names  :sry: but they had a sweat little female Chesapeake.

Most of the lakes around Yelm have shooting restrictions. The ones that do allow hunting get hit hard, but there are more birds on the weekends when there are people hitting the fields.

Thats good to hear but you know where good guys finish.

I had a similar story from early in the season.  My dog and I were just pulling away from the launch in my little jon boat, when a guy in his truck pulled up with his fishing boat.  He asked me where I was setting up.  I told him where and he said that's where he loved to fish, but he'd give me plenty of space.  I told him I only had time for a morning hunt anyways, so when he saw me leaving, the spot was all his.  After a swapping a few short stories, I headed out.  I dropped a few mallards that morning without every seeing his boat.  After I packed up, cruising back to the launch, I gave him a friendly wave and he gave me a thumbs up.  He pulled his boat up to mine and thanked me for hunting that morning, because he tried a new spot and slayed the fish.  Birds fell and fish hooked, a good day for both.  Good guy and a respect for each other's sport.
